What to expect at our session.

Appointments:

Appointments are booked in advance in either sixty- or ninety-minute sessions. Upon arrival, you will fill out a confidential client intake form. We will then discuss the information on the form and the desired outcome of your session. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment for paperwork and conversation. This allows for your full time on the table

What parts of my body will be massaged?

A typical full body massage includes work on your back, arms, legs, gluteal, feet, hands, head, neck and face. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered. You, as the client will be appropriately draped with a sheet and blanket throughout the session in accordance with Oregon Administration Rules (OAR) 334-010-0025 (3).

How much do I undress?
Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, you are in charge of your body at all times and therefore may decide what you are most comfortable with. It is common for underwear to be kept on.
The Massage Therapist always leaves the room while you disrobe and get on the table under the sheet provided. The Massage Therapists will always knock before entering the treatment room to make sure you are ready.
During the session:
Communication is always a two-way street. I will check in with you frequently as our session progresses. This looks like me asking about pressure, temperature, comfort, emotional wellbeing, or more or less of a technique. I never want my clients to "tolerate" my work during a session. It takes courage to seek out support for healing, so I invite you to advocate for yourself at all times. Ask as many questions as you like so you feel heard, understood, safe and in agreement to your session. It's your body, you get to decide what you want or don't want.
After a session:
Massage therapy is known for lowering blood pressure, decreasing muscle tension and giving an overall feeling of relaxation. At the end of the session, I will encourage you to sit up before you stand up so you can get your "bearings". I will also recommend a brief walk as to integrate the body work you just received as getting into a vehicle and driving right away whilst a little "spaced out" could affect your awareness.
